Idea Forge Machine Shop - MBE 30B

Patrick is a Manufacturing Engineer in the Idea Forge Machine Shop. He earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder in 2022, where he developed a passion for hands-on engineering and discovered a love for teaching. Those experiences inspired him to join the Idea Forge team and help students develop their technical skills and confidence as engineers.

In 2024, Patrick left the Idea Forge to work at Sierra Space as a Manufacturing Engineer on the Dream Chaser program. There, he gained valuable industry experience in vehicle design and manufacturing, process planning, tooling design, and production operations. He later returned to the Idea Forge, bringing those industry experiences back to the classroom and machine shop. Students can find him in the shop for help with everything from design-for-manufacturing reviews and drawing redlines to material selection, welding, machining, and manufacturing process planning. His favorite part of the job is helping students turn ambitious ideas into real projects and realize they are capable of more than they thought.

Patrick is a lifelong learner with a curious and adventurous spirit. He is always pursuing a new hobby, project, or challenge to better understand the world around him. Outside of work, he can often be found wrenching on his 24 Hours of Lemons race car, tending his beehive, gardening, backpacking, dirt biking, snowboarding, or foraging for gourmet mushrooms in Colorado's Front Range. When it's time to slow down, he enjoys cooking, playing music, reading adventure novels, and shooting pool with friends.
