Last week, 麻豆免费版下载Boulder celebrated and honored faculty members who have earned tenure, been promoted to full professor or teaching professor, and received the Provost鈥檚 Faculty Achievement Award鈥攐ne of the campus鈥檚 highest faculty honors. Together, these recognitions highlight the impact of faculty research and creative work, as well as the campus鈥檚 ongoing commitment to faculty success.听
The recognition ceremony, held on Sep. 13 at the Center for British & Irish Studies, opened with remarks from Chancellor Justin Schwartz, who welcomed attendees and emphasized the campus鈥檚 priorities of supporting faculty success and excellence in research and creative work. Schwartz also highlighted the role of faculty as champions of student success, noting that the recent record retention and graduation rates are a credit to both major scholarly contributions and the many small, often unseen acts of excellence that add up to make a lasting impact.听
鈥淔aculty excellence is at the heart of our mission,鈥 said Provost Ann Stevens, who led the ceremony. 鈥淭hese recognitions reflect the extraordinary contributions our faculty make in their fields, in the classroom and in the communities we serve. Their work inspires our students and strengthens 麻豆免费版下载Boulder鈥檚 role as a leader in innovation and discovery.鈥听
The Provost鈥檚 Faculty Achievement Award honors faculty whose research or creative work demonstrates significant influence in their disciplines and beyond. This year鈥檚 honorees represent a wide range of fields but share a common thread鈥攖heir work addresses important challenges, advances knowledge and opens new opportunities for creative expression.听

Provost鈥檚 Faculty Achievement Awards
Tenure-track faculty
Kalonji Nzinga (Education) has been granted this award for his groundbreaking article, 鈥淲hy Errybody Sayin 鈥橬o New Friends鈥?: The Proverbs of Rap and Why Young People Recite Them,鈥 published in 2023 in the top journal, Cognition and Instruction.
Jihye Park (Chemistry) has been granted this award for her pathbreaking article, 鈥淧hotocatalytic Hydrogen Peroxide Production through Functionalized Semiconductive Metal-Organic Frameworks,鈥 which was published in 2024 in the Journal of the American Chemical Society, a high-impact journal in her field.听
Nicholas Reinholtz (Business) has been granted this award for his high-impact 2021 article, 鈥淒o People Understand the Benefit of Diversification?鈥, published in Management Science, a top-tier journal in his field. 听
Tenured faculty
Jo毛lle Cruz (Communication) has been granted this award for her award-winning article, 鈥淚nvisibility and Visibility in Alternative Organizing: A Communicative and Cultural Model,鈥 published in 2017 in Management Communication Quarterly, one of the field鈥檚 top journals.
Henry Lovejoy (History) has been granted this award for his 2024 article, 鈥淐onceptualizing 鈥楲iberated Africans鈥 and Slave Trace Abolition: Government Schemes to Indenture Enslaved People Captured from Slavery, 1800鈥1920,鈥 which was published in the top journal Past and Present and showcases a significant contribution to public digital humanities.
Orit Peleg (Computer Science) has been granted this award for her transformative body of work on collective computation in nature, which reveals how social insects are able to synchronize, solve complex problems and build structures as a team, without central planning or sophisticated communication.听
Ross Taylor (Journalism) has been granted this award for his moving documentary film, 鈥淭he Hardest Day,鈥 which earned viral media coverage, as well as 12 awards from juried film festivals.
Marina Vance (Mechanical Engineering) has been granted this award for her impactful body of research on the formation, transport and fate of airborne contaminants known as aerosols, using methods such as controlled laboratory experiments and field studies in real environments.听
