While federal funding for these positions has been approved, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget has not released these funds. Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder, CIRES and NOAA leadership are actively engaged at multiple levels to advocate for the release of these funds so the important work at GML can continue.&nbsp;</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>The Global Monitoring Lab is critical to the understanding of our Earth’s atmosphere and is a key component of the CIRES mission to conduct innovative research that advances our understanding of the Earth’s environment for the benefit of society. Through contact tracing, public health officials have excluded the Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ campus from the list of confirmed exposure locations.</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>Because measles is highly contagious, the university encourages the campus community to remain vigilant about the disease. Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder is working with its partners in the city and county of Boulder and CDPHE to monitor and respond to any potential future impacts to campus.</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder’s Health and Wellness Services has been working since early spring to educate the campus community and&nbsp;</span><a href="/healthcenter/measles-awareness" rel="nofollow"><span>raise awareness about the risks of measles</span></a><span>, how to prevent it, and what to do if a student or employee suspects they may have been exposed to the measles virus. After a careful evaluation, and under the consideration that the standard for filing criminal charges requires that there be a reasonable likelihood of conviction, the agencies determined that criminal charges would not be filed.&nbsp;</p><p>There was no evidence indicating the instructor of the class broke any laws in the April 2 incident. The university has excluded the class mentor from campus. While federal law prohibits the university from disclosing specific actions involving students, all students are subject to adhering to the Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder <a href="/sccr/sites/default/files/attached-files/2023-2024_code_of_conduct_-_08.15.23.pdf" rel="nofollow">Student Code of Conduct</a>. Any student found responsible for violating the Student Code of Conduct will be subject to appropriate sanctions.&nbsp;</p><p>The safety of all students, faculty, staff and visitors at Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder remains a top priority, and the university is committed to protecting public safety on campus while also supporting free speech that does not violate laws or university policies. A second individual who appears to be removing individuals from the class in a video of the incident was not an employee or a student. &nbsp;</span></p><p dir="ltr"><span>Âé¶¹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder condemns acts of violence and does not tolerate classroom disruptions, both of which violate state law and university policies. Our campus has long supported our campus community’s right to free expression, so long as those activities are carried out legally and in line with university policy, and do not threaten public safety.
