<p>A powerful solar flare has ushered in the largest space weather storm in at least four years and has already disrupted some ground communications on Earth, said Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ Professor Daniel Baker, an internationally known space weather expert.</p>

<p>Following a more than three-month delay due to technical problems, NASA's space shuttle Discovery will make its final flight Feb. 24 from Kennedy Space Center in Florida carrying two Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØ-built biomedical payload devices.</p>

<p>A team from the University of Colorado at Boulder has been awarded $6.7 million from NASA to design, develop and test instruments for the fastest space probe ever built, one that will orbit 22 times closer to the sun than Earth and well inside the orbit of Mercury to better understand how the sun ticks.</p>
