[NEW] Undergraduate Program Professional

The Undergraduate Program Professional supports the department’s undergraduate academic program by coordinating daily operations and providing guidance to students, faculty, and staff. This position applies knowledge of academic administration and university systems to manage program logistics, assist with undergraduate advising processes, and ensure curriculum and policy requirements are met. The role regularly solves moderately complex program and student issues, determining appropriate actions within established guidelines and referring unique cases for further review when needed.
In addition, this position collaborates with faculty and departmental staff to organize undergraduate activities and events, support applied learning or research opportunities, and contribute to efforts that enhance student engagement and retention. The Undergraduate Program Professional may provide direction to student employees or staff assisting with program tasks, ensuring consistency and accuracy in undergraduate program support.

Student Assistants
Job opportunities for students within the Department of Chemistry may vary depending on the needs of the department’s research groups, teaching labs, and ChemStores. The classifications and hourly pay ranges for Students Assistants will vary based upon, but not limited to, the amount of knowledge, experience, education, and supervision required. Classifications:
Student Assistant I – Entry Level/Semi-Skilled
Pay Range: $16.82 - $20.00
- Little or no prior experience or education required.
- Considerable training done on-the-job.
- Work is under immediate supervision (methods of performing tasks are well established and explained in specific terms).
- Work assignments typically involve standardized duties that are of a routine and repetitive nature.
- Work assignments may include the use of special equipment, software applications or tools per an established procedure.
- The supervisor has responsibility for the assignment of work, the flow of work, production level, and provision of proper instructions.
- Jobs require limited to no independent judgment, analysis, or decision-making skills.
- Some jobs may not move beyond this level.
Student Assistant II – Intermediate/Advanced
Pay Range: $17.60 - $22.00
- Some previous knowledge, experience, or education required.
- Specialized training done on-the-job.
- Work is under general supervision (work objectives are set but methods of performing tasks are left up to the employee).
- Work assignments are varied and less routine and involve a moderate degree of responsibility.
- Work assignments may involve access to and use of sophisticated and/or confidential data systems such as PS Campus Solutions, PS Finance, PS HCM, etc. for which considerable training is required.
- The supervisor has responsibility for the assignment of work, however there is less control exercised over the flow of work and instructions given are more general.
- The employee is responsible for the results.
- Jobs require moderate independent judgment, analysis, and decision-making skills.
- Some jobs may not move beyond this level.
Student Assistant III – Specialist/Lead
Pay Range: $18.40 - $24.00
- Prior experience, education, or specialized skills required.
- Work is under general supervision (work objectives are set but methods of performing tasks are left up to the employee).
- Work assignments involve a broad variety of skilled tasks.
- Jobs require the application of considerable independent judgment and decision making.
- Students at this level may have the responsibility to direct the work of lower-level student employees.

Undergraduate Teaching Assistant Trainees
The Chemistry Department has an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant Program open to a limited number of undergraduate students for the Summer Term A session. The paid training program runs May 31 through July 1st (Summer Term A) and encompasses 85 hours of in-person Teaching Assistant training in our General Chemistry laboratories. The training program will pay $1,300 for the five-week program. Interested University of Colorado undergraduate students that are completing, or have completed, one of our General Chemistry classes should contact Dr. Matt Wise (wiseme@colorado.edu) for more information.
