A confined space is one configured so that a person can fully enter and work but is not designed for continuous human occupancy and has restricted or limited means of entry or exit. Employees entering confined spaces without proper protection can be seriously injured.
EH&S manages the Confined Space Program for campus and provides guidance on identification, evaluation, and control of confined spaces to ensure employees who must enter these locations are trained and aware of the proper procedures for safe entry and exit.
Examples of confined spaces on campus include, but aren’t limited to:
ÌýÌýSteam tunnels
ÌýÌýUtility vaults
ÌýÌýSumps and pits
ÌýÌýCrawlspaces
ÌýÌýAir handling units
ÌýThe Confined Space program is currently being updated. Check back here for a copy of the program once the update is complete.
