The Academic Futures 2018 reportÌýThe Future of Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder as a Public University: Embracing the Core Mission of Furthering the Public GoodÌý articulates thatÌýpublic scholarship is an "indispensable part of a comprehensive, public research universityÌýof the future" and that "public scholarship is one important way that the universityÌýcan have a central voice in what constitutes the public good."

Our team supports individual projects and partnerships and connects those activities to the broader campus context, and our approach values diverse traditions and methodologies from across academic disciplines and fields.Ìý

Ultimately, our work contributes to a campus culture that recognizes such work as essential to the university’s mission as a public flagship and comprehensive research universityÌýand enables and rewards it accordingly.Ìý

How we support individual projects and partnerships: Ìý
Our team supports public and community-engaged faculty and staff members through program funding and partnership development. We also help tell the story of Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder’s public and community-engaged scholarship through campus and public media. Our team members are available for consultation about funding opportunities, developing relationships with community or campus partners, best practices from the field of engaged scholarship, conferences and professional development opportunities, evaluating projects, communications, and more.ÌýÌý

How we connect activities to the broader campus context: Ìý
Public and Community-Engaged Scholarship is part of the Office for Outreach and Community Engagement under the Senior Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives. We actively support campus-level efforts that center and promote public and community-engaged scholarship; for example, co-leading the 2025 first-time application for the Carnegie Elective Classification in Community Engagement and participating in the Chancellor's Task Force on Outreach and Engagement.

The Public Outreach and Community-Engaged Scholarship Database is maintained by our team and is a searchable directory of Â鶹Ãâ·Ñ°æÏÂÔØBoulder outreach and community engagement activities, stories and statistics. Ìý
