Key themes include effective mentoring models, cultural competency, and community-building initiatives that create a supportive environment for all learners to thrive.

Applying the principles of intercultural communication, this session explores the rationale behind the need to adapt communication styles to better interact with international students in both oral and written contexts. Attendees gain a better understanding of cultural orientations through reflection on their own communication styles to maximize effective communication with their international advisees.Ìý
This workshop is designed to help international graduate students navigate the US academic culture of classroom participation, specifically through asking and answering questions. Tailored for graduate students serving or preparing to serve as Teaching Assistants (TAs), the session will cover strategies for fielding student questions, providing appropriate responses, and asking insightful questions and follow-up questions to gauge student comprehension.
In this interactive workshop, attendees master self-editing strategies for academic work. The workshop will address how to identify and correct common grammatical errors,Ìýachieve greater clarity and coherence in writing, tailor writing to meet academic standards, and use tools and techniques for effective revisions.Ìý
